Theresa May would be a step backwards for the country and her party. She supported the Remain campaign despite Cameron’s dishonest and farcical attempt at renegotiation, is a supporter of Sharia Law in Britain (a parallel Islamic law at odds with British values), was responsible over the last 6 years for the biggest breakdown in immigration control in our history and someone who called her own party “nasty” but then had mobile A boards tour London warning immigrants to go home.
It is astonishing that the Home Secretary Theresa May is leading in the Tory leadership election campaign. She will win the Parliamentary vote of Conservative MPs but she might have difficulty winning among Conservative voters against Andrea Leadsom who is that unusual combination of former City banker and real classical liberal Conservative. Brought up in corporatist circles she seems to believe in democratic capitalism! Unlike Theresa May she is not an “heir to Blair”.
May is responsible for the Counter Extremism Bill about to go through Parliament. It is so bad that it has been attacked by the Quilliam Foundation which is devoted to countering Islamic extremism, by Christian groups who see it as a threat to Christian teaching, by libertarian groups fearful of censorship and, seeing no specific definition of “Extremism”, democrats see a grave threat to free speech.
Before the Referendum May said it was not so much the EU that was the problem but the European Court of Human Rights which dictated so much of our law on migrants, foreign criminals and “human rights” – like votes for prisoners! Pity she had not grasped what many a schoolboy could have told her – that it is a condition of membership of the EU that we obey the ECHR. Fortunately for May, now that we have left the EU her desires can be fulfilled and she will benefit from what she did not want – Brexit!
Just like her prominent supporter Kenneth Clarke, the Tory Party’s resident corporatist fascist (who as a student at Cambridge invited the then leader of the British Union of fascists to speak at the Cambridge University Conservative Association). Clarke wanted the UK to stay in the disastrous European Exchange Rate Mechanism in 1991 but then took praise for his “handling” of the economy when we left the ERM and our economy flourished. He also benefitted from what he had bitterly fought against.
The Daily Mail’s Peter Hitchens writes:
“Trevor Phillips, when he was boss of the HQ of Political Correctness, the Equality and Human Rights Commission, said in 2011 that Mrs May was ‘just as aggressive as Harriet Harman was on women’s equality’ and she mysteriously converted from opposition to all-women shortlists for parliamentary selections, to support for them”.
The Reverend Peter Mullen
has a blistering attack on May in his Monday column for 4th July 2016 in which he takes May up on her invitation to “Judge me on my record.” Mullen recalls 2014:
“…….and the chaos caused by the delay in the issue of passports. May claimed this was owing to “a surge in applications,” but it turned out she had been warned the year before that her policy of closing overseas processing offices had resulted in a backlog of 360,000 applications and weeks of delay.
She complained that the Human Rights Act permitted suspected terrorists to continue living in this country under the clause that speaks of their right “to a family life.” Then – trademark May – after so complaining, she did nothing to get the Act amended.
As Home Secretary, she was in charge of the police. She cut their numbers and their budget during a long period in which the terrorist threat was at its highest.
She sat back and did nothing while in Rotherham, Leicester, Bradford, Rochdale and a dozen other towns and cities the police failed to stop the wholesale rape and sexual abuse of under-age white girls by Muslim men.
She was slow and indecisive in her pathetic attempt to intervene in the infiltration of schools in Birmingham by Islamic extremists. And she allows sharia courts to operate in parallel with British law – and this in spite of the fact that such courts are complicit in the mistreatment of Muslim women by their menfolk.
May claimed she was powerless to reduce immigration “because of Shengen, the EU’s open borders rule.” And then she voted for Remain! How’s that for joined-up thinking?”
The Government must be led by a strong principled “Leaver” who has no disastrous record in Government and has shown understanding of the failed EU over many years – not a dubious Johnny come lately with an alarmingly superficial knowledge of the threats to our country of European corporatism and Islamic imperialism.
Many patriots have re-joined the Conservative Party after the anti Conservative David Cameron resigned. Many will resign again if May becomes leader.
